BLACKPINK's Rosé and the 'K-Pop: Demon Hunters' (KDH) OST 'Golden' have made history as the first K-pop artists nominated in the Grammy Awards' main 'General Fields'. Rosé's 'APT.' with Bruno Mars is nominated for 'Song of the Year' and 'Record of the Year' among three nods. 'Golden', sung by Jae, earned five nominations, including 'Song of the Year'.
This marks K-pop's first entry into the 'Big 4' categories, surpassing BTS's previous nominations in the pop genre field. Rosé called the news "unbelievable," while Jae said it surpassed imagination.
Additionally, HYBE's group Katseye received nominations for 'Best New Artist' and 'Best Pop Duo/Group Performance'. The Korean musical 'Maybe Happy Ending' was also nominated for 'Best Musical Theater Album'.
Foreign media, including Reuters and the LA Times, noted this signals K-pop's move from a fandom phenomenon to mainstream artistic acceptance in the U.S.
The 68th Grammy Awards, where Kendrick Lamar leads with nine nominations, will be held on February 1st.
