Police recently searched the agency of singer Psy (48, real name Park Jae-sang) on suspicion of having managers and others illegally receive psychotropic drugs on his behalf.
According to a comprehensive report by Yonhap News on the 11th, the Seodaemun Police Station in Seoul searched the offices and vehicles of Psy's agency, P Nation, on the 4th, securing materials to substantiate the suspicions against Psy.
P Nation stated, "We have actively cooperated with the authorities' request and will continue to take necessary measures according to legal procedures."
Psy is suspected of receiving prescriptions for the psychotropic drugs 'Xanax' and 'Stilnox' from a university hospital in Seoul without an in-person consultation from 2022 until recently, and having a third party, such as his manager, pick up the medication on his behalf.
Xanax and Stilnox are psychotropic drugs used to treat sleep disorders, anxiety disorders, and depression. Due to their high potential for dependence and addiction, in-person examination and prescription are the rule.
The police have previously booked both Psy and the university hospital professor who prescribed the medication as suspects.
Psy's side previously stated, "He was diagnosed with chronic sleep disorder and is taking sleeping pills according to the medical staff's prescription," adding, "There was no proxy prescription."
