(G)I-DLE’s Jeon Soyeon revealed on YouTube’s Pixid that she sometimes earns up to 1 billion KRW (approx. $750,000) a month. When rapper Lee Young-ji asked about her monthly income, Soyeon jokingly replied, “Should I divide my yearly income by 12?” Young-ji reacted with surprise, noting that only high earners say that. Soyeon added that her income fluctuates greatly, from as high as 1 billion KRW to as low as 100,000 KRW. Later, on MBC’s The Manager, Soyeon clarified that her copyright royalties are relatively small and that Chinese revenue streams bring in more income. Fellow member Yuqi explained that for the first seven years after debut, income was split equally among the members. After renewing their contracts, individual earnings were separated.
